■What is Universal Color?
It refers to the use of colors that take into account people with different perceptions of color. In Japan, approximately 1 in 20 men and 1 in 500 women have color vision diversity, known as color weakness or color vision abnormalities, totaling over 3.2 million people nationwide.
■The Mechanism of Color Vision
The human retina contains two types of photoreceptor cells: rods, which function in low light, and cones, which operate in bright light. There are three types of cones: L (red), M (green), and S (blue), each differing in their spectral sensitivity, or the wavelengths of light they primarily respond to.
